Crouchenders say “Save Our Planter!”

In a strongly worded petition, a group of Crouchenders have forwarded their concerns and objections about the proposed work and removal of the planter at the junction of Middle Lane and Park Road in Crouch End.

Local campaigner Katrine Camillo writes: “We understand that the council is looking to improve safety and reduce accidents at this junction, but the proposals being put forward we feel could actually result in the opposite. We feel very strongly about the removal of the Planter at the above mentioned junction. This planter provides vital protection to pedestrians and shoppers, especially children and Families visiting the busy toy shop Niddle Noddle and Khoai the Vietnamese restaurant.

Another strong point to raise is that there are fewer and fewer green spaces in Crouch End, and the planter makes a big change to the feel of the neighbourhood, keeping it green in a world of more and more steel and concrete. We aren’t against improving the traffic at this busy junction but want to mark our concern! If the road has to be widened to accommodate the roundabout please consider just narrowing the planter instead of removing it completely! A little Green goes such a long way in our otherwise grey world!”
