A Crouch End family is in mourning after a pitbull killed their pet dog in Tottenham Lane yesterday.
The animal’s owner Kate Rockman was walking the 8 year old Yorkshire Terrier – called Rocky – in Crouch End at around 3.45pm when she said she was stunned to see her pet in the jaws of an “absolutely wild” dog.
Kate told the Ham & High: “I’m completely broken by it. That dog just went for her. I was walking home – I saw three kids with a dog, and I didn’t even think about it. Then suddenly it went for Rocky. The dog was so dangerous.”
The family reported the incident to the police, and Kate is concerned that the animal may still be on the loose.
Police have confirmed they are aware of the incident and have tweeted: “If anyone has any information please make contact with us. Absolutely devastating for this family.”
A member of the family has supplied a blurry image of the dog that is thought to have attacked the terrier. If you recognise the animal, or its owner, please call 101, tweet @MPSHaringey or contact Haringey Police quoting CAD 4799 / June 4.
