Man arrested for criminal damage after long rooftop stand-off with police in Crouch End

Ham&High report The man on the roof in Edison Road came down at around 10.45 last night, police have confirmed.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said he was “detained by officers in Crescent Road following a short foot chase”. Officers “deployed” a taser – which means they had one in their possession – but it was not “discharged”, or used.

The Met added: “The man, believed to be in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and public order offences. He remains in custody.”

The incident started around 1.30pm on Tuesday, and several squad cars and a police helicopter were deployed throughout the afternoon and evening.
