Crouch End book shop is back

Crouch End’s much-loved “House of Books” re-opened on Saturday at a brand new address opposite the Co-Op in the Broadway. The shop’s previous site is now the booze department of Waitrose, and their new premises previously housed a branch of the short-lived (and a tad over-expensive ) ready meals chain “Cook”.

There were over a hundred delighted “likes” when House of Books owner Adam Bloom announced the news on the Crouch End Appreciation Society Facebook page.

Adam then posted, “Thanks for all the kind messages and enthusiasm – we’ll try our best to offer a wide and interesting selection of good books for you all – it will take us a little time to get the selection perfect . We also are going to introduce a range of current “full price” titles and a customer ordering service if people would rather get from us than Amazon.”

The main reason for all the enthusiasm is probably that Crouchenders are so relieved to see a business open on the Broadway that isn’t either a coffee shop or a bistro. Good luck House of Books!
